Our story
Shorough Khafaji is the director of Advance Counselling . Shorough's rich knowledge and deep understanding of difficult situations that's leaves us speechless, angry and disconnected with our surrounding has made her to step into the word of mental health to help people to stay in touch with the self.
Shorough is a highly skilled counsellor with a Master’s degree in Psychotherapy and Counselling, backed by extensive experience in supporting adults, children, adolescents, couples and families facing a wide range of presenting concerns. She has worked in many settings addressing issues that affect her clients’ lives. Dedicated to providing effective support, Shorough helps clients effectively navigate the challenges they face.
Shorough's journey is deeply rooted in her experience as a refugee, where she learned to navigate and overcome numerous challenges. This personal background fuels her passion for helping others as she understands the difficulties many face. Her mission is to provide strength and support to those enduring tough times, recognizing that life can bring both challenges and joys that deeply impact our emotions.
Emphasising a person-centered and trauma-informed approach, Shorough is particularly passionate about assisting people affected by trauma, resulting in anxiety and dysregulation. This approach if both helpful for clients who know they are affected by trauma as well as clients who are not aware that trauma is affecting them.
